The Fire Inspectors Association of Nova Scotia (FIANS) is a provincial association that represents individuals and organizations that are dedicated to saving lives and property through the prevention of fires. This is achieved through a number of avenues most importantly training for those on the ground and information sharing between our members.

Our first plan of attack to achieve this goal is to ensure that all fire inspectors are properly training and qualified to carry out their duties and responsibilities. The Association has developed a comprehensive professional studies program that ensures that individuals in the field are current and well versed with the National Fire Code and any other documents that have an impact on their work. FIANS also believes that it is important for fire inspectors in the province to know and understand all technologies – old and new – that they may encounter. As such, the Association is developing a continuing education credit program to help meet this need.
